During the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020, Maria Martin of Juan More Taco learned that the elderly population in Fredericksburg, Virginia, were hungry. Her restaurant storage was full of food that was going to waste because of Covid restrictions, so Maria decided to provide free food to the elderly community that was being overlooked.
Maria reached out for help from the community, who donated money for free meals for the elderly and became delivery drivers. Soon, other Fredericksburg area restaurants donated meals.
With Maria’s enthusiasm and leadership, the 504 project grew, binding the community in an effort to feed our seniors during a worldwide crisis. Today, the 504 project continues its important mission delivering meals to the elderly population in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
